オンライン家庭教師を効率よく利用するコツ！海外で「日本語学習」したいなら必見！
海外在住でも、子供に日本語を話してほしい！
海外に住んでいると「日本語を覚えさせたいけど、どうやって教えたらいいのか分からない？」そんなお母さんも多いのでは？
今回はオンライン家庭教師の利用歴3年の私が失敗談も含め、どうすれば効率的に日本語が学べるのか？をご紹介します。
家庭教師を利用しなくても、親と自宅学習する時にも役に立つと思います。

オンライン家庭教師を利用するようになったワケ
母親と接する機会が多い幼児期ならともかく、保育園や学校に行くようになると、子供はアっという間に現地の言葉を吸収します。
そうなると、家でいくら日本語学習をしていても、どうしても母国語を混ぜてくることがあります。
それを完全否定し続けると、今度は日本語で話すことを嫌がるようになってしまいます。
現地の言葉では自分の思っていることを説明ができるのに、日本語では語彙が少なくてできなくなるからだと思います。
そこで我が家では長男が2年生、次男が幼稚園の時から、私が日本語を教えるのと併用して
「オンラインの家庭教師」でも日本語学習をしています。
いわゆるネット家庭教師です。相場は、大体50分で2000円くらいでしょうか？
マンツーマンなので家庭教師の方のバイト代、会社の運営費などを考えるとしょうがないかな？とも思いますが、小学生なのにちょっと高いですよね。。。
ただ、私としては、その金額よりもママ以外の「日本語しか話さない人と、強制的に日本語で会話してほしい！これはお金には代えられない。」という強い願望がありました。
完全に親のエゴです！
しかしオンラインの家庭教師の方に教えてもらうといっても、高い金額を払っているのでなるべく効率勉強してほしいですよね？
海外在住の子供の日本語学習は、日本に住んでいる小学生とは違うので少々コツがあります。
オンライン家庭教師で失敗するケース
授業はスカイプを使って行います。
オンライン家庭教師といっても日本にいる子に教えている会社が多く、海外に住む子供に日本語を教えるというカリキュラムはありませんでした。
なので、私と相談しながら「子供の反応をみて」勉強していくという感じです。
始めた当初は、まだまだ日本語がうまく話せなかったので、私はこんな風に思っていました。
- 日本語の勉強というよりは、まずは先生と日本語で話すのが楽しいと思ってほしい！
- とりあえず字を書くことよりも、話すこと中心に日本語を覚えてほしい！
日常会話を話す
普段の生活の中の「日常会話」を話す事から始めてはみたものの、やはり自分の言いたいことが、まだまだ日本語では言えません。
先週やったこと、いった所などを写真に撮ってスカイプに添付して送っておくと、先生もこちらの状況が分かりやすく、子供がうまく説明できなくても会話をスムーズにすすめることが出来ます。
最初に契約した会社は、家庭教師の先生が大学生だったので、子供も友達感覚で仲良く楽しそうでした。
子供の性格によると思いますが、先生に慣れてくると逆に子供がふざけだして、言うことを聞かないようになることも度々。うちの子供の問題ですが。。。
有名大学の学生さんで、とても優しい先生でしたが、我が家の場合は学年がまだ小さかったので、有名大学である必要もないし、むしろ子供の扱いに慣れている主婦の方がいいかな？と思いました。
先生は、子供をどの程度まで叱っていいのか分からない！
ふざけ過ぎてしまう子供の場合は、前もって先生に「ママに言いつけるよ。」「後からゲームできなくなるよ。」など効果的な言葉を、どの程度までなら言っても大丈夫か先生と相談しておくといいと思います。
ちなみに、１年半後に家庭教師の会社を変えて、育児経験のある女性の方に担当してもらいました。
こちらで用意したプリントをさせる
自宅では「ぷりんときっず」などのサイトからダウンロードしたプリントで日本語学習をしていたので、今やっているページのリンクをスカイプで送り、先生と一緒に復習していました。
このとき、やったことのないプリントをやると、どうしても時間がかかってしまうので、一度やったことのあるプリントを復習でやるようにして、出来たら先生にほめてもらえる。というやり方をしていました。
ただ授業を効率良く受けたいので、事前にプリントをやり、子供に一通り教えないといけないので、自分が忙しい時などは面倒臭い時もあります。
こんな感じで３年近くオンライン家庭教師を使ってみて、実際どうだったのか？
オンライン家庭教師ってどう？
高い家庭教師代を払った分の日本語は上達したのかな？と考えてみると、あまり効率よくは覚えられていないなぁ、と。
もちろん、やらないよりはやった方がいいのは明らかですが、ただ親は「もっと早く覚えてよ！」と期待が大きいですよね？
そこで、最終的にたどり着いた最も効果的なオンライン学習方法がこちら。
オンライン家庭教師を上手に活用するには？
先生と一緒に本を読む
私が試行錯誤した中でも「本を読むこと」が最も効率的に子供に日本語を教えることができると思います。
海外なので、本はkindleを利用します。
あらかじめkindleで用意しておいた本を、家庭教師の方とスカイプで画面共有しながら読んでいきます。
この方法であれば子供のレベルに合わせて、こちらで本を選ぶことができる。
知らない言葉にマークする
以前、ネット家庭教師の先生が「野球」を例にとって、いろいろな言葉を教えていたのですが、横で見ていた私は「うちの子、野球って言葉も知らないし、バットとかも知らないし。。。」
普通に考えればそうですよね？
日本に住んでいて教科書どうりに学習している子供とは違います。
自分の子供の「日本語レベル」を知っているのは家族だけ！
家庭教師の先生は、その子がどんな言葉を知っていて、どんな言葉を知らないかが分かりません。
kindleには文章をマーカーする機能があるので、あらかじめ意味が分からなそうな言葉にマークすることができます。
「うちに子はこの言葉が分からないだろう」ということを、あらかじめマークすることで先生に伝えることができます。そこを重点的に教えてもらうことができるんです。
このマーカー機能のおかげで、授業中に子供のそばにいなくても先生にもわかりやすいですし、早く読み終わって授業時間が余ったとしても、もう一度復習するのにパパッと単語を拾えるので本当に便利です。
先生が意味を説明するだけでなく、その言葉を使っていくつか例文を作ってもらったり「じゃあこの言葉を使って文章を作ってみて！」と、子供に文章を作らせると効果的です。
習った漢字にもマークする
既に習った漢字のところには、先ほどの意味が分からない言葉とは違う色でマークしておきます。
子供にも「この漢字はもう習ったものだよ」と意識してもらえます。
このときの注意点としては、思い出すまで待ち、無理に読ませるのではなく読めなければサポートしてもらい読んでもらうということです。
例えば、分からない漢字を思い出させるのに、1分間の沈黙が出来る。
家庭教師なので時間制限もありますし、私はこれにあまり意味がないと思います。（子供が知ってる、ちょっと待って！という場合は別です）
圧倒的に日本語を聞く機会が少ない、海外在住の子供には、とにかく聞いた言葉を繰り返し言ってもらう。
一番大事なことは、何回も繰り返し聞き、無理なく出てくるように頭にインプットさせることだと思っています。
幼児がお母さんが言った言葉を繰り返して、日本語を覚えていくのと一緒ですね。
繰り返し聞きながら、話しながら覚えるといっても子供によっても差があります。2.3回で覚えられる子供と20回くらい言わないと覚えられない子供といます。
我が家は対照的な2人がいます。
ただ一つ共通して言えることは、それでも少しづつ日本語を話す回数が二人とも増えてきました。
日本語を教えることをあきらめてしまえば「子供の日本語の能力」は後退してしまいます。今、話せたとしても忘れてしまう可能性も十分あります。
日本語を教えている限りは、少しづつでも前進してるよー！！
と、自分に言い聞かせる毎日です。
年齢がある程度大きくなり、話せたり漢字が読めるようになれば、自分からアニメを見たり、ネットで検索したりできる日が来るんじゃないかな？
そうできるようになる日までは、家族の努力が必要です。だから私もあきらめません！！！
