少し前まではマンツーマンでの英会話レッスンというと授業料が高いイメージでしたが、フィリピン在住の先生を採用しスカイプで授業ができるようになって安くなってきましたね。
個人レッスンでも「25分で270円～」など、人件費の安いフィリピンだから実現する価格。
安いのは魅力的なんだけど、気になるのは・・・
「フィリピン人の英語の発音」って実際どうなの？
まずは、こちらの動画をご覧ください。「アメリカ英語」「フィリピン英語」「オーストラリア英語」の発音の違いを比較しています。
この動画を見るとわかるように、「アメリカ人の英語の発音」と「オーストラリア人の英語の発音」も若干違いますが、やはりフィリピン人の方は明らかに違うのが分かります。
まあ自分の「カタカナ丸出しの英語」よりは、よっぽど発音がきれいですが。。。
「発音にはこだわるよ！」という方にはオススメしないかな。
我が家の場合も英会話を始める時に「せっかく習うならアメリカ英語で習わせたい！」と、旦那さんが当初はフィリピン人講師に受講することを反対していました。
旦那さんがアメリカ在住経験があり、英語が話せるからです。（ちなみに旦那さんは、アメリカ・スペイン混血のブラジル人）←ややこしいな・・・
もちろん母国語が英語圏の、いわゆる「キレイな英語」に越したことはないとは思いますが、そうなると授業料も、グーンと上がります。
答えは単純です！
「授業料の安さ」をとるか、「発音」をとるかの2択です。
しかし、フィリピン人講師はデメリットばかりでもありません。
フィリピン人の英語は聞き取りやすい？

とは言い切れませんが、しかし。。。
実際のところ、かなりの回数をこなさないと、そこの心配までしなくてもいいのかな。。。
子供たちが受講しているリップルキッズパークの先生は、ほぼ全員フィリピンのセブ島の人で、中には「ん？発音が？」という先生もいますが、100人以上のたくさんの先生が在籍しているので、発音がきれいな先生もいますよ。
週1回、夏休みなどは2回くらい受講した結果・・・
フィリピンなまりが移るほど、英語慣れしてないじゃん！
発音がどうの。なんて心配したわりに、ちょっと拍子抜けした結果でした。
授業を受けた後には、こんな感じで「復習できるメッセージ」が届くのですが、まったくやったことがありません。。。
子供が小さいうちは楽しく授業を受けてくれて「英語に興味を持ってくれる」「英語をを好きになってくれる」ことが大事だと思っています。
しかし親が英語を習わせたいのであれば、しっかり子供のサポートしてあげないといけないなぁ、と反省しました。。。
子供にやらせっぱなしでは、英語の上達が遅い！
しかし、のんびりした感じでも３年も続けると・・・
こんな感じで少しは話せるようになりました。

インプットは手軽にできるから
今ではYoutubeなどで検索すれば、ネイティブな英語レッスンなどは山のようにありますよね。 英語のＤＶＤや映画を何回も繰り返して見るのもいいと思います。
その気になれば、毎日英語の勉強し放題です！
でも、日本人はなかなか英語が話せない。。。
なぜか？
インプットをしただけでは「話せるようにならない！」
勉強した努力を無駄にしないために、記憶にためこむだけではなく積極的にアウトプットした方がいいのでは？
口に出して話すことにより、頭の中や身体に記憶を定着させることができます。
私の場合は、授業料が高いことで英会話を習うの先延ばしにしたり、途中でやめてしまうよりは「子供が小さいうちから気長に英語学習を続けたい！」ので、フィリピン人の先生でもいいかな？と思います。
